Reviews on Cell Phone Number Searches, Ringtones Services & How to Get The Best Deal on a New Cell Phone.
Many cell phone users have heard the rumors that telemarketers will soon be targeting their sales calls to wireless user’s phones. Several emails are circling the web warning wireless consumers that cell phone numbers will soon be released to telemarketers, and the consumer will be charged. These emails started in the fall of 2004 but have begun to resurface again, causing wireless consumers to panic.
The email may look like this:
“...In a few weeks, cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS... To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: (888-382-1222……. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five years. PASS THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS..."
There are laws that state that cell phone numbers may only be placed in national 411 directories if the person gives consent. Therefore your cell phone number will not be displayed in a directory unless you give some sort of consent. Many states also prohibit telemarketers from texting messages to consumers as well.
The Do Not Call Registry can be reached at 888-382-1222 or go online at www.donotcall.gov.
