Why is there no cell phone number book?
First, let's define what a cell phone number book (or directory) is. A cell phone book is a listing of cell phone subscribers that may be organized by geographic region or divided into sections for business and residential (similar to the yellow & white pages).
Now, why is there no such thing? Primarily, because of the time effort needed to produce something like this and the division between cell phone service providers. You see with land line phones there may be one or perhaps two local carriers, but in the case of cell phones, there may be as many as ten different service providers. It is not reasonable to ask people to search ten different phone books to find the number they may be looking for so "someone" must consolidate that information.
